Why?
Infrastructure software engineering impacts the professional lives of every software engineer deeply, and subtly shapes the products and platforms our companies build, but relatively little is written about running an effective infrastructure engineering organization.
My hope is that the Infrastructure Engineering projects interviews and guides will contribute a small bit in accelerating the rate that we’re improving as an essential pillar of software engineering organizations.
If everything goes really well, it might even become the collection of resources I needed when I entered my first infrastructure engineering leadership role and proceeded to blunder around awkwardly until I picked up these pieces.
Who am I?
I’m Will Larson, known by @lethain on Twitter, and wrote Staff Engineer and An Elegant Puzzle. I worked in Uber’s Infrastructure Engineering organization, founded Stripe’s Foundation Engineering organization, and write on my blog, Irrational Exuberance.
